So the other day in the US they aired the episode of the Simpsons that we've all been waiting for. That's right, the one with Richard Dean Anderson in it. I've seen it and I have to say, I'm disappointed. Firstly, they showed him attending an SG-1 convention ... he's never done that and I expect never will. Secondly, it didn't really sound a whole lot like him, but perhaps after a year spent just playing with his daughter and shooting one Master Card ad he's become more relaxed and thus his voice has changed a bit. Who knows. Now I'm not trying to say that I know RSA better than anyone and that they portrayed him badly ... what I am going to say is that they did a shit job of the episode. It's the second last of the season I believe and they must have said "Shit, we've almost reached the end of the season and we promised him we'd put him in an episode." ... "Fuck it, let's just mash him into this one."
His story line was completely irrelivant to the main story line and very un-simpsons-like. If they had used him for 5 minutes at the start and then branched off it would have worked better and I would have been happier. You can forgive me for not liking this episode, I've gone a long time without anything new from RDA, the Master Card ad was merely a snack. I was expecting much better and the Simpsons has let me down. YOU'VE LET ME DOWN SIMPSONS AND I'M NOT HAPPY.
I always preferred Futurama anyway.
