So January 1st has rolled around once again and it's time to reflect upon the year that was. Last year, I did this with an image, the year before I did it, the year before I did a month by month recap and apparently the year before I did the same and previous to that I wasn't part of the blogosphere so there was no recap. It seems logical to me that this year I would do it with a song, but seeing as I can't sing or play any musical instrument I don't see that happening.
What I will do though, is name a song that is going to be my motto for the year. This may become a regular thing ... I guess it depends on how long this blog lasts. It's lasted this long without me getting bored and I seem to be posting more often so things look good!
Anywho, the song for this year is Opportunity by Pete Murray. Despite HATING myspace, I'm going to post a link to his myspace so you can listen to the song. < href="http://myspace.com/petemurray">http://myspace.com/petemurray.
So now that I've done that, I will go ahead and start the annual recap!
January:- So apparently I had a weird and somewhat hilarious dream this month that I now have no recollection of having. I suggest you go and have a read of it. I ordered my first tshirts from Threadless and thus began what I'm sure will be a life long love affair with them. I'm planning on buying a bunch more very soon, as soon as they send me my password damn them!!! ... Actually, damn me, I'm the one who forgot it. I went to a funeral in Barmera and I finished writing the first drafts of my TV show. I haven't actually looked at them since then, so I guess it's about time I pick them up again. I also listened to The Shins for the first time and saw Garden State ... I don't think I've been quite the same since. Also I met Sandi, well technically I met her in December the year before, but it was NYE, so it can count as both.
February:- I went to my first Big Day Out and aside from being burnt to a crisp, I had a freakin blast. I enjoyed just chilling out at the end of the night and watching the White Striped on the big screen. Franz Ferdinand were awesome also, I was really into them at the time, but now not so much. I organised with Vicki to take a trip to Melbourne for the comedy festival, at this time, she was still in the US. I ordered my first Ipod and returned to my apple fanboi-girl roots (my first computer was an LC-575
). I saw Josh Pyke for the first time this month, he played an impromptu song or 3 in the street for those of us who couldn't get in, then we saw Nathan Page at the Fringe, it was a night of brushes with fame! The very next day, I bought my polaroid camer, which I must get more film for. I also bought a coffee machine which I haven't used for ages ... I could go for an iced coffee right now actually. I might go and make one in a bit, we do after all have a coffee machine here at work.
March:- So this was the magical month that I got my xbox 360, it was amazing and still is. I camped out, I was the first one there, but not the first one in. Damn security guard opened the wrong door first, there was almost some stabbage from me to him, but I figured he probably had a gun or something and I had but a small pocket knife ... if I even had that! This month I also had a boyfriend for a couple of weeks, but I liked my weekends to myself and he lived in murray bridge which was just too far to go for a visit, me being lazy and all.
April:- Melbourne, Melbourne, Melbourne! I went to Melbourne in March and it was awesome, we went on planes, we walked in the rain, we saw some comedy, we ate giant schnitzels and we went to Ikea. Perhaps the most important thing we did was buy alcohol from a deli ... A DELI!!! This month was also my birthday, which was rad, we went to the plaster fun house and had a blast, then we went to pizza hut and at in ... oh yes, we ate in! I bought a bike too, haven't really ridden it much at all, go me!!
May:- So apparently not a whole lot happened in May, I guess this month kind of gets overshadowed by April a lot of the time. I think it was about May when I started getting the hang of PHP which I was studying that semester. It's useful to understand that which you're studying and expected to use to complete a project.
June:- June also appears to be uneventful, I finished my TAFE assignment which I worked damn hard on and ended up getting awesome marks. I imagine it is simply because I was the only one who actually wrote their own program as opposed to copying off the guy who does PHP for a living and was just there for some formatting tips. It also appears I drank a lot. I made my first trip to the Belgian Beer Bar and this was also the month in which I drank a whole bottle of Canadian Club to myself and was violently ill. Much fun was had by all.
July:- Exciting things happened in June, but I did not blog much. I got my new job, which I am still loving, I posted my first youtube video on my site, I submitted my tax return and I went to see You Am I. They were okay, nothing special though. I'd always pictured myself working for the company I now work for and it feels strange to think that now I am ... I guess that kind of thing actually works every now and then. Weird.
August:- This month I was looking after Carly's cats while she was in Europe ... bitch! They kept me awake, so I didn't sleep there, I just fed them and watched TV with them for a while. 2:37 was also released this month which was cool, we went to my big screen debut and I was a star!!! Standing there looking all nonchalant and all that stuff. I made Carly a cake and mum put tomatoes on it ... tard. August was also the month when disaster struck, they cancelled Stargate SG1, I was shattered. They have now confirmed that they will be making 2 movies and possibly more if they go well. ~2 hours of Stargate per year is no where near enough!! I need my standard 20.
September:- Leanne and I started going ice skating regularly this month, we've been 6 or 8 times now, but not for a while. I haven't fallen once, although I still can't stop which isn't the best, but I'll get it eventually. I also had my wisdom teeth out this month. Now this is something I had been dreading since I heard that wisdom teeth existed. Honestly though, I need not have worried, it wasn't really anywhere near as bad as having my tonsils out. Still annoying though. I think I was lucky because mine came through fairly well and there wasn't much digging involved. My face swelled up which was unpleasant and the drugs they gave me were crap, neurofen was much better.
October:- This month Bec and Hamish got married finally after ~13 years together. I didn't think they ever would get married. When I found out they were engaged when we came back from Melbourne, I though "CONFORMISTS!!!". The wedding was really nice though and I drank lots and had a hang over, then we had BBQ cookup and cream puffs for breakfast. It was gold.
November:- We wented to the zoo, it was awesome. The day after that I bought my new camera which I love!! I figured I would get it for when I go away and I'm so glad I did, I got some awesome shots with it. I also purchased a flickr account and submitted a couple of photos to jpg mag, I don't think they're being published though. I spent most of this month looking forward to December when it was time to go away!!!
December:- The month I had been looking forward to all year was finally here. The 8th rolled around and I loaded myself into a plane and jetted off to Queensland where I had the best time! I met some great people, ate a whole lot of crappy crappy food, sweated a lot, snorkelled on the reef, rode the skyrail, flicked a march fly, got stabbed in the foot, did a runner at a wedding, drank a bunch of beer, got my sea legs and then failed to get my land legs and just generally had a good time. I can't wait till my next trip .... I'm thinking maybe a cruise, but I want all my friends to come because it's a case of the more the merrier. I did a runner from christmas and I worked New Years Eve.
All in all, it's been a pretty good year, but the year that will be referred to as '007' shall be even better!
Also, I congratulate all those of you who are quitting smoking as a new years resolution. We're proud of you.
