So I went and saw Hairspray again last night with Laura. I can't get over how much I am in love with this movie. Other people have said it and I'm going to repeat it here, Hairspray is possibly the happiest movie ever. You smile all the way through, whether you've seen it before or not. There are some classic lines and I can't believe how well John Travolta convinced you that he was a bulky laundress. I'll be buying this DVD as soon as it comes out.
I watched John Waters' original Hairspray from 1988 the other night. It was good as far as a John Waters film goes, but realistically, you should see the original before the new one if you don't want to be disappointed. When it comes to films that John Waters has directed, this has got to be one of the most tame. I haven't seen his whole collection, but I've seen a few and the majority of the ones I have seen require a bit of a strong stomach. Pink Flamingoes and Female Trouble are the two samples of his earlier work that I've seen and almost wish I hadn't. Serial Mom, Cry Baby and Hairspray, are more stomachable films, that he's made since 1988. Serial Mom and Cry Baby are certainly worth a watch. Cry Baby is a musical and I was expecting Hairspray to also follow this trend, but the only singing and dancing in the film was part of the Corny Collins show. I think this may be what disappointed me most.

To any one who has yet to see hair spray, stand up right now, get your keys, gather your spare change and go and see it. Right now, stop reading and leave at once. Just remember to pee before you get in the cinema and don't drink too much while you're in there.
It's the best recent musical I've seen. The last one was Chicago (Disney shit doesn't count) and that was pretty good, but this was fucking hilarious. I was so close to pissing my pants it wasn't funny. I haven't seen the original hairspray, but I will endeavour to do so soon. John Waters has a cameo at the start that is very fitting.
Dancing, singing, John Travolta in a dress, what more could you want? Tracey Turnblad is the fat girl we all want to be. Even though Zac Efron is probably a prick, we all want just that one kiss from Prince Charming.
Once I've seen it, I'll let you know how the original compares to the new release.

So I've now gotten myself invested in Battlestar Galactica and I've just discovered on Wikipedia that this fourth season will be the last. On top of that, it wont actually be airing until February 08 and even then, only the first 10 episodes. The second 10 will be aired in February of 09. WHAT THE FUCK!!! Is it really necessary to have a whole year between 1 half of the season and the other?!?! I'm annoyed, very annoyed, but I guess it's not up to me, so I just have to put up with it.
See TV was so much better when you had the awesome Friday night line up on Sci-Fi, Stargate, Stargate Atalantis and Battlestar Galactica. WHY WOULD YOU BREAK UP A GREAT FORMULA LIKE THAT?!?!?! I can see what's happening here and it all began with the cancellation of SG1. If there was still SG1, then Battlestar would still have a home on Friday nights after Stargate.
WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN ME, YOU GODS OF TV?!?!?!?!
